Fireball of Dreams
As I stand on the edge of the cliff,
Expectantly gazing at the horizon, like a plaintiff,
Asking for no more than a moment’s quiet.
There in the distance, is that a ray of light?
Struggling to make it way through this envelope of darkness..
A glimmer of hope, a burst of happiness!
I stand on the edge of the cliff, proud,
I let go to fly high, to dispel the cloud,
To free the light of my life from her shroud.
I do it all with ease, much to my own surprise,
Grateful that I might find my long awaited sunrise
Nervously but joyously, I peer through the veil
Alas! Only to realize it was once again a setting sun
Hurrying down, there..my fireball of dreams goes down.
While I rush to my abode, to that Edge,
The veil, the shroud envelope again with a grudge.
I stand on the edge of that cliff,
Tired but restless for another flight.
I still dream, I still dare, I still wait,
For a hint of that ray of light
For that’s the only way can I stand with my pride intact.

For that’s the only way can I stand with my pride intact.
